First Roster Deadline Looms

Today's the day NFL teams must trim their rosters to 75 players.

Generally, this is not as tough as the 53-man final roster deadline which looms just four days from now. Think about it, the team has to trim the fat down to 75 guys, then cut 22 players just like that a few days later.

Who's in danger? Who's safe? No one knows!!! OK, I'm exaggerating a little. But, in reality, this is important. This is why the final preseason game features the second-, third- and fourth-string guys so prominently.

The first string, they're pretty much set by this "game" (I'd hope that, if you made the 75-man roster and you're slated to start, then you're not in danger of being one of the unlucky 22).

If you don't show the coaches what you're made of during the Chicago "game" Thursday night, then you'd better have your bags packed by Saturday.

Usually, there's at least one surprise cut. Who's it going to be this year? Who do you think it'll be?

Go Browns!
