This week, I talked to a former colleague of mine who eats, sleeps, breathes and drinks ... Cleveland Browns football.
Krissy is from North Olmsted, went to Kent State and has lived all around the Cleveland area.
She is a member of the Olmsted Falls Bulldog Browns Backers and truly believes Pittsburgh is the "bad guys."
So, without further ado, I give you the Blawg Pound Interview with a Die Hard Browns Fan.
How long have you been a Browns fan?
As long as I can remember. My dad had four girls before he had a boy, so my mom would get us all dressed in our Browns shirts and we would sit and watch the games with my dad. I very much remember sitting in front of the TV during “The Drive” and watching my dad flip out afterwards.Who is your all-time favorite Browns player?
We didn’t really understand the game, so we just started crying while we watched him rip the tape out of the VCR and repeatedly throw it against the wall. If I would have understood what was happening on the field, I probably would have shot someone.
Okay, not literally ... but if John Elway was around it would have been hard to restrain myself.
Hanford Dixon.Did you ever get to see him play in person?
Unfortunately no, but I did meet him. What is your favorite Browns memory?
Oh my God, this is tough. There are so many!Do you support Mike Holmgren and the direction in which he is taking this team?
I will keep it general and say that just watching the games on Sunday with my dad and my family is really the greatest. Also, Draft Day is like a holiday in my family.
I do, although it's hard to say that just yet. I will say that I have much more faith in the organization with him at the helm than I have had with anyone else in quite a long time. Are you satisfied with the hiring of Pat Shurmur as the head coach?
It wasn’t a real exciting move, but I’ll give the guy a chance. It will be interesting to have an offensive-minded coach in Cleveland.Who is your favorite current Browns player?
Even though you are a hater, I have to go with my boy from Kent, Josh Cribbs. Yes, he pretty much sucked last year; hopefully this year he will step it up.What makes you a die-hard Browns fan?
I also loved Haden in his first year, and am excited to see more of him.
I love the Browns no matter what. Even when they suck, my family and I get all of our Browns gear on and watch the games. No matter how horrible they are, and no matter how much you tell yourself “I really don’t care what happens in this game because they are going to lose anyway,” the game starts and everything changes. Right at kickoff, my heart races and I’m excited again. How much money would it take to get you to wear a Steelers jersey in public?
The most meaningless plays get us all to jump up and scream in either joy or agony. This town is such a football town and it makes me so proud to be from Cleveland.
I absolutely hate ANYTHING Pittsburgh. Just the sight of their logo makes my stomach turn. And it really doesn’t stop at their logo or the team; I even hate their ketchup. My dad refuses to buy Heinz ketchup and so do I (Hunts!).
I have never hated anything as intensely as the Steelers, and definitely not for as long. I am not going to go throwing bottles at people, but if you are wearing a Steelers jersey I will give you the evilest eye I possibly can and imagine myself punching you in the face.
When we were kids my dad told us that the Steelers were “the bad guys” and I still think that way. My dad is really the reason I am such a die-hard Browns fan. He raised my sisters and brother and I that way, and I am so grateful that he did.
I love my Cleveland Browns!
Just thinking about letting clothing with black and yellow colors touch my skin makes me want to vomit. There you have it. Real answers from a real Browns fan. Thanks sharing your thoughts, Krissy, and thanks for being a Browns fans.
I want to say no, but I would like to buy a new car so I would entertain offers of $20,000 or more. After said wearing of disgusting jersey, I would take a long boiling hot shower, sob loudly and yell, “what have I done?” over and over again until my lungs stopped working.
Are you a die-hard Browns fan? If you're reading this and your name isn't RJ, then I'm guessing you are. Visit our Facebook page or send us an e-mail and let us know if you'd like to be considered for a future Interview with a Die Hard Browns Fan.
Go Browns!
